Johnny Gill Life as a Singer

Johnny Gill (born May 22, 1966) is an American singer, songwriter and actor. He is the sixth and final member of the R&B group New Edition, and was also a member of the supergroup called LSG; with Gerald Levert and Keith Sweat. He is currently in the new group Heads of State with New Edition members Bobby Brown and Ralph Tresvant touring.

Born in Washington, D.C., on May 22, 1966, Johnny Gill began his career singing gospel in his father’s church, as part of the family gospel group, Wings of Faith. When a family friend helped him get a record deal at age 16, he began sharing his mature, distinctive voice with fans of R&B and pop music. He went on to become lead singer of the popular boy band New Edition, and eventually released a hit solo album, Johnny Gill, in 1990. He has continued making hits, at one point joining superstar singers Keith Sweat and the late Gerald Levert to form the R&B supergroup LSG.

Early Life

Born in Washington, D.C., on May 22, 1966, Johnny Gill Jr. was part of a musical family. His father was a minister, and beginning at the age of 5, Gill sang in his family’s gospel group, Wings of Faith, composed of him and his brothers Bobby, Jeff and Randy. Even at a young age, Gill stood out because of his mature voice, sounding wise beyond his years.

A childhood friend, singer Stacy Lattisaw, helped Gill to record a demo, which got him a record deal in 1983, at age 16. His first self-titled album garnered some attention, but he really began to get national attention when he next made a duo album with Lattisaw. Their hit single, “Perfect Combination,” brought a new level of awareness to the young singers.

Music career

Gill’s recording career began in 1983, at the age of 17, when his childhood friend, singer Stacy Lattisaw, convinced him to record a demo. This demo fell into the hands of the president of Atlantic Records, and his self-titled debut album was released shortly thereafter- featuring the minor hit “Super Love”. On this album, Gill played guitar, bass, bongos, and drums in addition to performing lead and background vocals. Gill then teamed up with Stacy for a duet album, which featured their first hit together- the title track, “Perfect Combination”. A second album on Atlantic Records yielded the song “Half Crazy”.

Later career

On September 27, 2008, the days Johnny Gill was back on the road singing on his own he began touring with New Edition bandmates Ralph Tresvant and Bobby Brown in a new group named Heads of State.

In July 2010, Notifi Records, based out of St. Louis, MO, signed Gill to a recording contract. On October 11, 2011- 16 years after recording his last solo album- he released his recent studio album Still Winning.

JEWEL HOUSE BRAND – Lil Boosie Collection

Jewel House was created in 2014 by Louisiana rapper Lil Boosie. He decided to launch his own brand because he wanted to wear something that represented him. The name of the clothing line comes from Lil Boosie’s belief that his family members are his jewels.

What is PCOS – Polycystic ovary syndrome?

Polycystic ovary syndrome (say “pah-lee-SIS-tik OH-vuh-ree SIN-drohm”) is a problem in which a woman’s hormones are out of balance. It can cause problems with your periods and make it difficult to get pregnant. PCOS also may cause unwanted changes in the way you look. If it isn’t treated, over time it can lead to serious health problems, such as diabetes and heart disease.

Most women with PCOS grow many small cysts camera.gif on their ovaries. That is why it is called polycystic ovary syndrome. The cysts are not harmful but lead to hormone imbalances.

Early diagnosis and treatment can help control the symptoms and prevent long-term problems.

Hormones are chemical messengers that trigger many different processes, including growth and energy production. Often, the job of one hormone is to signal the release of another hormone.

A Visual Guide to PCOS

CONTINUE READINGFor reasons that are not well understood, in PCOS the hormones get out of balance. One hormone change triggers another, which changes another. For example:

  • The sex hormones get out of balance. Normally, the ovaries make a tiny amount of male sex hormones (androgens). In PCOS, they start making slightly more androgens. This may cause you to stopovulating, get acne, and grow extra facial and body hair.
  • The body may have a problem using insulin, called insulin resistance. When the body doesn’t use insulin well, blood sugar levels go up. Over time, this increases your chance of getting diabetes.

The cause of PCOS is not fully understood, but genetics may be a factor. PCOS seems to run in families, so your chance of having it is higher if other women in your family have it or have irregular periodsor diabetes. PCOS can be passed down from either your mother’s or father’s side.

Symptoms tend to be mild at first. You may have only a few symptoms or a lot of them. The most common symptoms are:

To diagnose PCOS, the doctor will:

  • Ask questions about your past health, symptoms, and menstrual cycles.
  • Do a physical exam to look for signs of PCOS, such as extra body hair and high blood pressure. The doctor will also check your height and weight to see if you have a healthy body mass index (BMI).
  • Do a number of lab tests to check your blood sugar, insulin, and other hormone levels. Hormone tests can help rule out thyroid or other gland problems that could cause similar symptoms.

You may also have a pelvic ultrasound to look for cysts on your ovaries. Your doctor may be able to tell you that you have PCOS without anultrasound, but this test will help him or her rule out other problems.

Regular exercise, healthy foods, and weight control are the key treatments for PCOS. Treatment can reduce unpleasant symptoms and help prevent long-term health problems.

  • Try to fit in moderate activity and/or vigorous activity often. Walking is a great exercise that most people can do.
  • Eat heart-healthy foods. This includes lots of vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans, and whole grains. It limits foods that are high in saturated fat, such as meats, cheeses, and fried foods.
  • Most women who have PCOS can benefit from losing weight. Even losing 10 lb (4.5 kg) may help get your hormones in balance and regulate your menstrual cycle.
  • If you smoke, consider quitting. Women who smoke have higher androgen levels that may contribute to PCOS symptoms.1

Your doctor also may prescribe birth control pills to reduce symptoms, metformin to help you have regular menstrual cycles, or fertility medicines if you are having trouble getting pregnant.

It is important to see your doctor for follow-up to make sure that treatment is working and to adjust it if needed. You may also need regular tests to check for diabetes, high blood pressure, and other possible problems.

It may take a while for treatments to help with symptoms such as facial hair or acne. You can use over-the-counter or prescription medicines for acne.

It can be hard to deal with having PCOS. If you are feeling sad or depressed, it may help to talk to a counselor or to other women who have PCOS.

Practice Self-Love

Hey you! Did you know that you are very special? There is no other person in this world like you. You deserve to be loved not only by those around you but by the most important person in your life — YOU. Practicing self-love can be challenging for many of us, especially in times when we face serious challenges. It’s not about being self-absorbed or narcissistic, it’s about getting in touch with ourselves, our well-being and our happiness. We practice self-love so we can push through our limiting beliefs and live a life that truly shines.

So do yourself a favor, take a deep breath, give yourself a little hug and start practicing the following:

  1. Start each day by telling yourself something really positive. How well you handled a situation, how lovely you look today. Anything that will make you smile.
  2. Fill your body with food and drink that nourishes it and makes it thrive.
  3. Move that gorgeous body of yours every single day and learn to love the skin you’re in. You can’t hate your way into loving yourself.
  4. Don’t believe everything you think. There is an inner critic inside of us trying to keep us small and safe. The downside is this also stops us from living a full life.
  5. Surround yourself with people who love and encourage you. Let them remind you just how amazing you are.
  6. Stop the comparisons. There is no one on this planet like you, so you cannot fairly compare yourself to someone else. The only person you should compare yourself to is you.
  7. End all toxic relationships. Seriously. Anyone who makes you feel anything less than amazing doesn’t deserve to be a part of your life.
  8. Celebrate your wins no matter how big or small. Pat yourself on the back and be proud of what you have achieved.
  9. Step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. It’s incredible the feeling we get when we realize we have achieved something we didn’t know or think we could do before.
  10. Embrace and love the things that make you different. This is what makes you special.
  11. Realize that beauty cannot be defined. It is what you see it as. Don’t let any of those Photo-shopped magazines make you feel like your body isn’t perfect. Even those models don’t look like that in real life.
  12. Take time out to calm your mind every day. Breathe in and out, clear your mind of your thoughts and just be.
  13. Follow your passion. You know that thing that gets you so excited but scares you at the same time. The thing you really want to do but have convinced yourself it won’t work. You should go do that!
  14. Be patient but persistent. Self-love is ever evolving. It’s something that needs to be practiced daily but can take a lifetime to master. So be kind and support yourself through the hard times.
  15. Be mindful of what you think, feel and want. Live your life in ways that truly reflect this.
  16. Treat others with love and respect. It makes us feel better about ourselves when we treat others the way we hope to be treated. That doesn’t mean everybody will always repay the favor, but that’s their problem not yours.
  17. Find something to be grateful for every day. It’s inevitable that you are going to have your down days. This is fine and very human of you. It’s especially important on these days to find at least one thing you are grateful for as it helps to shift your mind and energy around what’s going on.
  18. Reach out to family, friends, healers, whomever you need to help you through the tough times. You are not expected to go through them alone.
  19. Learn to say NO! Saying no sometimes doesn’t make you a bad person, it makes you a smart person.
  20. Forgive yourself. You know that thing you did one time (or maybe a few times) that made you feel bad, embarrassed, ashamed? It’s time to let that go. You can’t change the things you have done in the past but you can control your future. Look at it as a learning experience and believe in your ability to change.
  21. Write it down. Head swimming with so many thoughts it’s giving you a headache? Write them all down on a piece of paper, no matter how crazy, mean, sad, or terrifying they are. Keep it in a journal, tear it up, burn it, whatever you need to do to let it go.
  22. Turn off and inwards. Grab a cup of your favorite tea, coffee, wine, whatever your choice of drink, and sit down for a few minutes on your own. No TV or distractions, just you. Think about the wonderful things that are happening in your life right now, what your big dreams are and how you can make them happen.
  23. Give up the need for approval from others. “You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be somebody who hates peaches.” — Dita Von Teese
  24. Be realistic. There is no person on this earth that is happy every single moment of every single day. You know why? Because we are all human. We make mistakes, we feel emotions (good and bad) and this is OK. Allow yourself to be human.
  25. Get creative and express yourself in whatever way you like. Painting, writing, sculpting, building, music, whatever takes your fancy, and make sure you leave your inner critic at the door. There are no right ways to be creative.
  26. Let go of past trauma and wounds. This can be a really tough one and it may be one of those times you need to turn to others for support. The truth is though, when we let go of things that have happened to us it’s almost like a weight is lifted off our shoulders. We don’t have to carry that around with us anymore. We deserve better.
  27. Find your happy place. Where’s the one place you feel totally at ease, calm, happy, positive, high on life? Go to that place when you are going through hard times, or imagine yourself being there. Think about how it feels, what it smells like, what it looks like.
  28. The next time you are feeling happy and on top of the world make a list of your best qualities and accomplishments. It may sound a little corny, but it can be a wonderful reminder when you are having a day that’s less than amazing.
  29. Get in touch with your inner dialogue. If it’s anything less than loving, encouraging and supportive, it’s time to make a change. You deserve to be spoken to in the same way you would speak to your best friend, sister, brother, daughter, or son.
  30. Have fun! Get out there and do the things that light your fire. Enjoy them, enjoy being you and enjoy your incredible life.

“Life is hard at times. But when I overcome more challenges, I become much stronger then. So I’m going to embrace them.”

How to Be Successful by Embracing Change

Change is a big part of being successful. Not only is change good (if you don’t believe me, look at the fashions of the 70s and 80s), but it’s accelerating at an increasingly rapid pace. While it took 75 years for 100 million users to adopt the telephone, it only took four and a half for the Internet and just over a year for Candy Crush Saga.

This means that you need to keep adapting. It’s both a survival skill and a success skill.

However, change is difficult for people. For some of us, it’s pure laziness. But for others, we don’t like the lack of control or the uncertainty of worse outcomes, bruised egos, embarrassment or failing. People also seem to hate losing more than they love winning.

But, if you don’t learn to embrace change and if you don’t move forward, you will be left behind. So, whether it’s changing the focus of your business, having to learn new technology or replacing a prized employee, you need to know how to deal with change.

Here are four ways that you can learn to be comfortable with the discomfort of change and use change as a success tool.

1. Take small action steps.

When you get your mind wrapped around the concept of embracing change, the first tweak is to just take small steps forward. You are not going to be able to effect a full wholesale change overnight, so just find one small thing that you can do at a time, then do it and then, do another.

If you can start with an end goal, work backward and break your goal into small action steps until you can get to the very first one in the path. This is usually something that you can control or do yourself. Once you accomplish that milestone, then you can tackle another. These small steps make change palatable and easier to accomplish.

2. Be willing to go back in order to move forward.

Get your mind wrapped around taking a few steps back in order to be able to go forward. Visualize trying to jump across a creek. You can’t just jump standing from where you are. You have to physically move backward in order to give yourself the momentum needed to run and take that leap forward.

Success is not linear, though I wish it was, so expect that when you face change, there will be a time that you have to move backward. This may be in terms of status, pay or some other factors required to get to the next level. If your mind knows that’s part of the process and removes the uncertainly around it, it’s easier to embrace.

3. Check your ego.

Typically, the biggest roadblock to change is you. Often, there’s little downside other than facing your own bruised ego when you evaluate change. To counteract this, quiz yourself about the downside of pursuing change if it doesn’t work out. If the downside is primarily concern about failure or people pointing and laughing at you, it’s time to get over it.

4. Fail correctly.

For some reason, most of us were never taught to fail. Our entire school system is set up so that success is given a gold star and failure is ridiculed.

This is unfortunate because failure, when done properly, is a good thing. It’s required for taking on risk and pursuing entrepreneurial endeavors. That is, if you do it the right way.

The right way to fail means doing it quickly, inexpensively and never the same way twice. You don’t want to have too much money or time hinging on any one outcome. If you do, then failure is bad, taking time and money away from other opportunities.

Testing your route on smaller scales in rapid succession allows for the risks to be lessened. So, try something that doesn’t cost too much or take too much time. If it works, take the next step. If not, your failure isn’t financially or otherwise devastating.

And, of course, you need to learn from your failures so that you don’t repeat them down the road.

Change is necessary and it’s not evil. Learn to love it and you will be poised for success.

How to Get Thicker Hair Naturally

To use olive oil to get thicker hair naturally, simply apply olive oil to your hair and massage it in, being sure to get all of your hair. Leave this in for thirty minutes and then rinse followed by a light shampoo. For even better results, you can leave it on overnight and then wash it in the morning.

Thick hair is something more people would like to have. Whether your hair is long or short, having thick hair just seems to look better. Your hair may be thin depending on a number of reasons, but there is no reason why you can’t get thicker hair naturally. Climate is a big reason people have different thicknesses of hair. In colder climate hair tends to be thinner, while in warmer regions hair is often thicker.

Thin hair may come with age, and while there is nothing you can do to prevent aging, there are ways to promote naturally thicker hair. Nature has given us everything we need to promote naturally vibrant health and there are many methods that will promote hair growth and increase volume. If you’ve got thin hair, or your hair’s just not as thick as it once was trying any of the following home remedies will promote thicker hair and leave you feeling your best.

5 Home Remedies for Naturally Thicker Hair

The power of nature is unsurpassed for giving us everything we need to look and feel our best. Women and men alike have been using natural remedies to treat various health concerns and keep themselves happy for thousands of years. Using natural home remedies offers a safe alternative to chemical based products that often contain toxic ingredients that may lead to harmful side effects. There are ways to get thicker hair, and it doesn’t have to cost you your health or a big dent in your pocketbook.

1. Egg

Eggs
Egg is great for hair and skin and it’s got everything you need to build up the proteins in your hair to keep it thicker and promote new hair growth. Protein is one of the best things you can give your hair to make it stronger, thicker, and looking its best. If there is only one remedy you use to promote thicker hair, let this be it.

To use egg on your hair, beat two large eggs in a bowl until they are whisked well together. Apply this all over your dry hair and let sit for at least twenty minutes. Proceed to rinse this well, applying a light shampoo to get the smell of the egg out of your hair. This method should be used at least four times a week to gain the best results.

You can also use a mixture of egg yolk, olive oil, and water to gather results of thicker hair. The three should be mixed well and applied all over dry hair. Leave this on for fifteen minutes and then rinse well followed by a light shampoo. Repeating this procedure a few times a week will offer results in a few weeks.

2. Orange Juice

Orange Juice
Orange juice is also a really great way to promote thicker hair and smells super refreshing. It promotes hair growth, thickens hair, and is great for treating dandruff. To use an orange to help you with your need for thicker hair, take a sliced orange, peel and all, and put it in a food processor until you have a fine pulp. This pulp should be applied to your hair and left on for twenty minutes. Doing so once a week will lead to fuller, thicker hair in a matter of months.

A mixture of orange juice and apple puree is also a good way to get thicker hair naturally. Applying this to your hair and scalp for thirty minutes once or twice a week is great to promote thick hair. It should be rinsed well. No additional shampoo is necessary if it is not desired.

3. Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is great for your hair and it’s easy to get thicker hair when you use this tropical oil as a treatment. Having a bottle of coconut oil is highly recommended if you wish to take care of your hair naturally and have it looking its best. There are proteins present in coconut oil that are responsible for adding strength to the hair, much like how the proteins in eggs work for treating thin hair.

To use coconut oil for getting thicker hair naturally, massage a bit of warmed coconut oil into the scalp and hair and cover with a hot towel. Get the towel hot by running it under hot water and ringing out all excess water. This will ensure that the oil stays heated while penetrating the hair shaft. Leave this on for thirty minutes and then rinse and wash with a mild shampoo. This can be repeated every few days to get hair that is both thicker and healthier.

4. Olive Oil

Olive Oil
Olive oil is full of what your hair and skin need to stay healthy and vibrant. Keeping a bottle of olive oil and in the bathroom is highly recommended. People have been using olive oil for years to promote thicker hair and healthy skin. Olive oil contains the omega-3 fatty-acids that your hair needs to become thicker.

To use olive oil to get thicker hair naturally, simply apply olive oil to your hair and massage it in, being sure to get all of your hair. Leave this in for thirty minutes and then rinse followed by a light shampoo. For even better results, you can leave it on overnight and then wash it in the morning.

5. Avocado

Avocado
Avocado is fruit that offers amazing benefits for both hair and skin. This green, creamy fruit is great for promoting naturally thicker hair and will leave your locks shiny and luxurious. To use avocado to get thicker hair naturally, avocado can be mashed with a tablespoon of olive oil and applied to the hair as a mask. This should be applied to freshly washed, damp hair and left on for at least twenty minutes. Rinse off and follow with a conditioner and you will soon notice a big improvement of the thickness of your hair.

Police fear Bangkok bombing suspect may have fled

A student who posted a bomb threat on Facebook was arrested in Ayutthaya on Saturday and was charged with a computer crime that is punishable by up to five years in jail and a fine of 100,000 baht ($2,800), Winthai said. He did not give details of the second arrest except to say it happened in Bangkok. Ayutthaya is about 80 kilometers (50 miles) north of Bangkok.

Winthai said the two people were arrested for spreading “false information causing confusion in society,” but did not say whether their posts were directly linked to the bombing.

So far the operation to find who carried out the attack appears to have made little headway, with apparently contradictory statements coming from the military-backed government and the police.

Theories abound as to who was responsible for the attack.

They include ethnic Uighurs (pronounced WEE-gurs) angry that Thailand repatriated to China more than 100 of their countrymen who had fled from there; Islamic separatists who have been carrying out an insurgency in southern Thailand for a decade; frustrated supporters of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra angry at the military government that opposes his return to politics; and rival factions within the army contending for power.

Despite new surveillance video that may offer a possible clue to the bombing in central Bangkok that killed 20 people, Thai police said Sunday that the perpetrators may have already fled the country, and that they will “need some luck” to catch them.

Surveillance video leaked to Thai media shows a man in a blue shirt placing a bag on a riverside walkway, then kicking it into the water on Monday night shortly after the explosion several kilometers (miles) away at the downtown Erawan shrine. About 18 hours later, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, an explosion took place at the same spot near a busy pier, causing no casualties.

Col. Winthai Suvaree, a spokesman for Thailand’s ruling junta, also said that closed circuit television showing the main bombing suspect was used to trace the route he took to and from the site of Monday evening’s rush-hour attack. He said that a police sketch of the suspect had been distributed to border posts.

Police spokesman Prawut Thawornsiri said he believes the perpetrator would have timed an escape carefully and “wouldn’t have much time to stay around.”

“I suspect that he may have left, but we will keep searching, in case we can find others who may be in the country or find clues, evidence and witnesses who may have seen him,” he told Channel 3 TV network.

Police have offered a reward that on Friday was raised to 3 million baht ($85,000). On a police arrest warrant, the suspect is described as a “foreign man,” although a military spokesman said a connection to international terrorism seemed unlikely.

Thailand’s police chief Somyot Poompanmoung said investigators would need some luck to catch those behind the attack.

“I have to say we need some luck. If the police have good fortune, we might be able to make an arrest, but … if the perpetrator has good fortune maybe they can get away,” he told reporters Sunday after a ceremonial show of security strength meant in part to reassure the public over safety.

Meanwhile, authorities have arrested two people for allegedly spreading “false information,” apparently in connection with the shrine bombing.
